IVANA DE ARMAS
ARTIST BIO
Miami-based visual artist Ivana De Armas has been shaping her visual language for over two decades. Born in Serbia, her career began at thirteen when she won a national art contest and exhibited a series of paintings at the Kraljevo museum, inspired by the ancient Žiča Monastery. She later earned her Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade, where she explored painting, mixed media, sculpture, and vitrage mosaics.
After moving to the United States at twenty-three, Ivana rebuilt her artistic practice with a deeper emotional and cultural perspective. Her bold, high-contrast palette and symbolic narratives gained recognition through her solo exhibition at Art Basel Miami 2019, where she introduced her celebrated “Art of Belonging” series—an exploration of belonging, cultural identity, and the strength found in human connection.
Today, Ivana’s work enters a new chapter. Her latest series merges mythology, digital culture, and the psychology of power, using horses and hybrid divine beings as metaphors for freedom, illusion, control, and the human algorithm. Through vibrant color and intricate symbolism, Ivana examines what it means to stay human in a world shaped by technology, validation, and the shifting boundaries of identity.
